These difficulties need not be extreme or exotic. Many psychological problems are simply ordinary human reactions taken too far, or not far enough.
Most people feel sad once in awhile. Feeling sad all the time is a problem. Anyone can be annoyed at a messy roommate. Not just anyone would skip work in order to deep-clean the living-room because the roommate left her socks on the floor.
